Dakhla (MOROCCO)

Dakhla

“My head is full of sand. I’ve traveled north, saying goodbye to my friends, remembering my family and my home. Out at sea there was no one to call and the police don’t seem to understand us. Now I’m a wreck in the dust, my heart is closed inside a shoe and my head – have I already said it? – is full of sand.”

Gran Canaria (SPAIN)

Gran Canaria

“I’m drifting, the wood is rattling. I woke up this morning on the warm sand. Now there’s a cat that sleeps with me like a little child. I was born to sail, strong arms pushed me out to sea. They laughed and cried and made promises to each other. We would have been together. Now there are few of us left. The paint that’s left is all ruined. I’m made of wood but I could tell many things. They threw everything away without understanding what it meant. Some had their hearts broken”
